Morocco through fresh eyes (and professional lens)

One of the most humbling and joyous achievements of parenthood is watching your children get better than you. I have been quite good at lot of things, then watched my own flesh and blood do them even better. Zekiah blasts past me in soccer, logical thinking, even professional networking these days. Galen's fingers dance beyond my simple guitar strums, voice soars above my corny country tunes, and (subject of today) his photography is out of this world (and, today, out of Africa).
What started as a cute obsession of taking puddle reflection photos on his i-phone grew into a full passion and skill. He studied photography in high school and college, sought out mentors, invested in equipment, and grew his repertoire (nature, sports, portraits, events, cats...) He paid his way through college working as the school's sports and marketing photographer and doing private portraiture work. Now as a fresh graduate he's chosen to work part-time as a behavioral therapist and continue part-time with photography. He is the model of a young person who nurtures a passion's spark to a full blazing fire.
Today I'm thrilled to share some of his photos from Morocco - what a treat to witness the unfolding of Africa through his fresh eyes and talented lens.
Marrakech
It didn't take long for Galen to find fascination in the big city of Marrakech.

Atlas Mountain and Dades Gorge
Driving across the snow-covered Atlas Mountains and through Dades Gorge were a photographer's Nirvana.

Saraha Desert
An overnight camel ride to a Bedouin tent camp in the Moroccan Sahara was, of course, a dream-come-true. Sadly, even Mr. Professional Photographer wasn't quick enough on the draw to capture the imfamous Mama Falling Off The Camel moment.

Last stop - Fez
Our final stop in Fez opened up a world of markets and rooftop vistas.

Cats of Morocco
All artists must indulge their passion - for Galen, it's cats. Whenever we'd lose him, we'd just backtrack to the nearest stray cat and there he'd be, a-pettin' and a-clickin'.

Thank you, Galen!
If you'd like to see more of his work (or order prints), he's online at www.GalenJuliusson.com or "Galen_Juliusson_Photography" on Facebook and on Instagram. You've never seen truly artistic sports photography until you've seen him capture the Joy or Agony or Grunts of a college football game. And for you American readers, this might be a particularly good time to visit his Gender Euphoria project.
