Mothers Day in a Mexican Flower Market

Mothers Day used to mean a walk down to Fleugers Nursery to buy a few pretty potted plants. But nothing in that annual ritual compares to a visit to Mercado Jamaica - the flower market in Mexico City that never sleeps (or at least, never closes).
Now that I've finished my 3-part Cuba series (see the fancy new slider of past posts below, and if you've been missing posts you can now sign up for email notifications, also a new feature in the footer) I can dedicate this whole post to honouring all you amazing mothers who rock this world (including my own, and my amazing wife who's the best of the best).
So, all you magical mamás and mamans and mommies, pour yourself a fresh hibiscus tea ("Jamaica" means hibiscus, some of which I bought to flavour upcoming batches of kombucha) and enjoy a stroll through the 1,150 fragrant, colour-bursting stalls of Mercado Jamaica.
